Brown CS' Socially Responsible Computing Teaching Assistants (STAs) are undergraduates embedded in individual CS courses, where they work as part of the regular course staff to build and implement SRC content directly into the technical material.

Working closely with professors and the program team, STAs identify the societal questions most relevant to a course, then design, teach, and grade content that connects those questions to what students are already learning, whether in lectures, labs, assignments, or projects. Each course approaches this differently depending on how established its material is, but the goal regardless is to make critical thinking about the social impact of technology a routine part of doing computer science.
